Apple Music po raz pierwszy przyznało nagrody muzyczne. Wyróżniono artystów w pięciu kategoriach: Global Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year oraz Song of the Year. Muzyczny album roku oraz singiel wybierane są na bazie danych z Apple Music.
Billie Eilish została pierwszą w historii laureatką nowej nagrody, otrzymując tytuł Artysty Roku. Autorem Roku zostaje Finneas, czyli brat Eilish, współautor i producent jej debiutanckiego albumu When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, który został też Albumem Roku.
